About Our Practice

Face To Face Medical Associates serves all ages, from newborn to elderly. When you visit Face To Face, your nurses and physician will cover all bases through refined treatment. Much time and expense has been spent training each member of our staff to participate actively in your health care so that you receive a full understanding of your problem and its treatment. We sincerely hope that your visit is an educational experience, and provides you with the care and information that you desire.

FACIAL RHYTIDECTOMY: The elements of time, gravity, sun exposure and stress will start to show in the face. A facelift cannot stop aging, but it will help your face have a natural look, with results that last usually 5 to 10 years. What it can do is help your face look its best and give you a look of health and a more youthful appearance. This procedure is used to improve sagging facial skin, jowls, and loose neck skin. By pulling back and removing the excess skin, the face will result in a smoother and tighter texture. This procedure is generally performed on women age 35 and older, and men and women even into their eighties. A MINI FACELIFT done under local anesthesia and in the office provides good facial rejuvenation with minimal downtime for recovery.

BOTOX®: is a therapeutic muscle relaxing agent derived from the bacterium, Clostridium Botulinum. The cosmetic treatment is quick and minimally invasive. The physician makes a few tiny injections into the muscle that causes moderate to severe frown lines between your brows. With no anesthesia, the physician will determine exactly where to administer the injections to achieve the best results. The entire process takes approximately minutes and results are expected within days.

BROWLIFT: Even if you feel rested, but have a facial expression of tired, sad, or angry, the procedure of a browlift will help to minimize the sagging, forehead creases, and frown lines. This procedure is usually done between age 40 and 65. Forehead wrinkles and drooping brows are modified by tightening and removing excess skin. To see what a forehead lift can do for your face, put your hands above your brows and outside the edges of your eyes and gently raise the skin upwards. Forehead lifts are an option if you have a sagging brow or deep furrows between the eyes. A browlift and blepharoplasty (eyelid tuck) or face lift are frequently combined to provide a harmonious rejuvenation.

EYELIDS: Eyelid enhancement can be performed on the upper eyelids, lower eyelids, or both. Droopy eyelids along with puffiness (excess fat) and bags can make you look older. In the upper eye lid surgery, the incision is made along the natural folds. In lower eyelid surgery, the incision is made along the lash line. Both will remove excess fat, muscle, and skin. These results can last several years and are sometimes permanent.

CHIN: Having a weak chin is certainly not an asset, but a well-defined chin helps give balance to the face and profile. This can be achieved by chin augmentation or implant. Another improvement through chin surgery is submental liposuction, which removes excess fatty tissue to help redefine the chin and neckline. Your consultation can help you decide on the type of surgery that addresses your concerns.

RHINOPLASTY: What is an attractive nose? Quite simply, it is a nose that fits your face. It is a natural-looking nose that achieves a harmonious balance with your other facial features. If you feel that your nose is not a good fit, you may benefit from cosmetic surgery of the nose, also called rhinoplasty.

Rhinoplasty can correct a nasal tip that droops, a bump on the nasal bridge, and other attributes that may make someone feel their nose is unattractive. The results of rhinoplasty enhance the balance between the nose and other facial features.

Rhinoplasty can be performed on men and women of almost any age. However, it is usually recommended that young people wait until facial growth is complete, about age 13 or 14 for girls, 15 or 15 for boys. If you are a teenager, having the procedure should be y our own idea.

LIP AUGMENTATION: This procedure provides a more full, plump, and sensuous look for the lips. Under local anesthesia, a long-lasting material called Gortex is used. Juvederm or Restylane can be used with the same results, but has to be repeated every six months.

PCA ADVANCED SKIN CARE SYSTEMS:

PCA offers a wide range of superficial chemical peels using alpha hydroxyl acids (AHAs), TCA (trichloroacetic acid), salicylic acid, resorcinol, retinol, tyrosinase inhibitors, antioxidants and polyphenols to address a wide range of skin types and conditions. These treatments will help stimulate, firm, and tighten the skin.AHA’s are naturally occurring acids, which mean they are found in nature. AHA’s work on the skin in this way: They break the chemical bond of the glue (desmasomes) that holds the dead skin layer (the stratum corneum) together. The treatment will given the complexion a glowing appearance with a smoother texture and more even skin tone.

We also offer three different TCA (trichloroacetic acid)/lactic acid blends, each with their own special benefits. This formula is available only to physicians, as it is a more aggressive treatment product that is capable of producing a medium depth peel. This treatment will achieve many similar results as the PCA Peel® with added hydration and little to no stinging. This formula offers skin smoothing, strengthening, and hydration to many who previously would not have been candidates for chemical exfoliation procedure (e.g. rosacea). It is very effective with virtually no irritation. All three of these solutions are exceptional for the treatment of acne, hyperpigmentation, fine lines and wrinkles.

You will find the family of PCA Professional™ Exfoliating Treatments are “skin-friendly” and easy to use. In most cases, you will see results immediately and the patients will be happy that there is little or no “downtime” after the treatment.

CHEMICAL PEELING: Chemical peel is especially useful for the fine wrinkles on cheeks, forehead, and around the eyes, and vertical wrinkles around the mouth. This procedure will restore wrinkled, blemished, unevenly pigmented, or sun damaged skin, using a chemical solution to peel away skin’s top layers.

Peel formulas at a glance:

Alphahydroxy acids (AHAs)

  • Smooths rough dry skin
  • Improves texture of sun damaged skin
  • Aids in control of acne
  • Can be mixed with bleaching agent to correct pigment problems
  • Can be used as a TCA pre-treatment

Considerations:

  • A series of peels may be needed
  • As with most peel treatments, sunblock use is recommended

Trichloroacetic acid (TCA) is a nontoxic chemical which has been used to perform skin peels for over 30 years. The function of a skin peel is to create an even controlled shedding of several layers of damaged cells. This exposes a new fresh layer of skin with a more even color and smoother texture. In addition, the peel stimulates new cells to grow, thereby tightening the skin, which decreases wrinkling. TCA peels can effectively improve many conditions, including: dull weathered skin, freckling, blotchy pigmentation, sun damage, fine wrinkles and shallow acne scar. Unlike other peels, those done with TCA usually do not permanently lighten the skin. Therefore, it can be performed on patients with darker skin types, including Hispanics, Orientals, and Blacks.

Uses:

  • Smooths out fine surface wrinkles
  • Removes superficial blemishes
  • Corrects pigment problems

Considerations:

  • Can be used on neck or other body areas
  • May require pre-treatment with Retin-A or AHA creams
  • Treatment takes only 1-15 minutes
  • Preferred for darker skinned patients
  • Peel depth can be adjusted
  • Repeat treatment may be needed to maintain results
  • Sunblock must be used for several months
  • Healing is usually quick, much quicker than with a phenol peel

Phenol Peels:

Uses:

  • Corrects blotches caused by sun exposure, birth-control pills, aging
  • Smooths out coarse wrinkles
  • Removes pre-cancerous growths

Considerations:

  • Used on the face only
  • Not recommended for dark-skinned individuals
  • Procedure may pose risk for patients with heart problems
  • Full-face treatment may take one hour or more
  • Recovery may be slow – Complete healing may take several months
  • May permanently remove facial freckles
  • Sun protection, including sunblock, must always be used.
  • Results are dramatic and long-lasting
  • Permanent skin lightening and lines of demarcation may occur
